Silver, equal to sterling, was used to create this one-piece sand casting for a single, perfect natural dark green turquoise cabochon.
The stone was beautifully cut, oval in shape, with a nice dome. A silver "tip" around the opening in the casting, was carefully and evenly pressed down around the edge of the seated stone, creating a secure bezel setting.
At one time there were simple stamped impressions decorating either side of the setting. These are all but gone with the polish of 100 years of even wear.
All in original condition, it has never been sized. It is as smooth and comfortable to slip on as a silk garment.
Normal wear of the bezel area around the turquoise has no effect on the setting. The turquoise is bedded deep and solid, braced for another 100 years of adventure with someone special.
