Silver hand-drawn wire and rolled sheet, glassine enamels with mineral-based colors of white, brown, pink, green and blue.
All constructtion is accomplished with solder fabrication around an enclosed central cruciform structure outlined with continuous sawtooth bezel on both sides. A two-sided lacework of soldered filligree was skillfully fabricated outward from and around the centerpiece, which is believed to be a reliquary.
A loop and ring are attached at the top. From a small loop at the bottom dangles a "Jersalem rosette" ornament. Insets with a hand-enameled crucified Christ and rose with crossed ribbon decorations were set in the center bezels, front and back, respectively.
It is a Roman Catholic practice to pray a five decade rosary every day, for world peace.

Description | Nearly every crucifix we're encountered, of this type and age, has wear in roughly the same place. It is reasonable to conclude the damage was caused by pressure while hollding the crucifix during prayer. Originally the focal point of a rosary assembled on a silk cord, over time these rosaries fell apart and many of these beautiful crosses became pendants. |
