Mill-rolled sterling silver sheet was used to create the conchos and their bezels. The sterling posts and large comfort clutches are commercially made findings. Natural blue, high grate turquoise rough, from the Morenci mine in Arizona, was hand cut for the cabochons.
A pattern for each concho was laid out on the sterling sheet and marked lightly with a scribe, dividing each oval into visual quarter sections. Hand-made stamps were used to impress the detailed design. The oval was cut, following the scalloped edge created by radiant crescent stamps. Each oval was then chased in a cottonwood depression, giving them a very nice, slightly bowed dimension. A bezel was fabricated for each bezel and soldered to the center front of each earrings.
Some oxidation has nicely accumulated over the 45 to 55 years since these beauties were created. This patina was deliberately left to be enjoyed. Perhaps a new owner may make a different polishing decision.
