Ingot silver of sterling quality and natural turquoise of intense blue green hue, with a dark golden tan matrix, were used to create this handsome, wide cuff.
Its body is composed of an ingot silver sheet, hammer stretched and hand crank mill rolled, requiring several annealings. The front half of this shank strip was then chisel cut, dividing the silver into three bands which were then spread to support a beautifully decorated panel.
Hand drawn wire has been cleanly soldered to the surface in a lacy scroll and scallp motif flanking a fine rope twise wire based smooth bezel in which a large oval turquoise has been set. This stone is high domed, of an exquisite natural deep blue green with a dark golden tan matrix adding a dusky mood to the cuff. Remainder is handsomely and precisely stamp decorated to each carefully finished terminal.
"Unknown artist" is appropriate when a work of art is unsigned and a supported opinion about who made it is not available (on Savvy Collector).. "Attributed to" precedes the name of an artist when information suggests that it likely was made by that artist (on Savvy Collector).
