| About the Artist | (Born 1980, Zimbabwe) Thomas Makore is of the Tembo Mazvimbakupa totem of the korekore tribe. He grew up in the Nuyamhondoro village attending primary education. Ill health kept him from attending secondary school, hence his early start sculpting in stone. iIn 1996 he gained experience observing Sonwet Murombedzi and Edmore Maurukira. Hwadaya Gallery represented the artist's early sculptures. In 2000 he moved to the Tengenege art community, where he became a permanent resident as a full time sculptor, marrying a woman named Fortunate. |
