(1920-2006) Justino Herrera was a farmer, born at Cochiti. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, Herrera came home, married his sweetheart. He achieved his goal of farming, raising livestock and continuing his painting. His Cochiti name (Stimone) means A Bird. This artist is listed in all the prominent books on Native American painting: Snodgrass (1968), Brody (1971), Tanner (1973), Lester (1995).
