About the Artist	(1943-2022, Ojibwe) Taught to make porcupine quill baskets from Debbie Hatch, an Ojibwe woman from Sault St. Marie, Christine had previously undertaken embroidery projects. Considered a master quill basket maker, Okerlund received seven grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board to teach apprentices how to make birch bark baskets with quill designs.
