About The Bolo Tie Sterling Lion Knot with Lion Pendant Tips
Jewelry

Sterling silver was used to crate the lions for the slide and the cord tip pendants.  Silver round wire for the slide was drawn from ingot, as were all the hand-made connecting links.  Tip cones were fabricated from mill-rolled sheet.

The large lion was cast from a hand-carved and incised wax model that was invested, burned out of the investment leaving an impression space.  This hollow became a one-time mold for the molten silver poured into it--creating the lion.  After the investment was removed, the surface was hand finished to achieve the surface and details.  Oxidation was applied to bring out texture before final polishing.

The two pendant lions were also created using the lost wax casting process.  Two were needed, so a mold was created from the original.  From the vulcanized rubber mold, waxes were pulled.  These were each invested and cast utilizing the same process used to make the large lion.  Hand finishing oxidizing the silver and polishing was also the same.

A hand-braided 4 ply black leather cord holds everything together.
