Carved Sterling Silver Overlay Pendant on a Sterling Snake Chain

Luis Mojica

About The Carved Sterling Silver Overlay Pendant on a Sterling Snake Chain

Sterling silver for the pendant was cast from a meticulous carving, reminiscent of Aztec cultural motifs.  The design execution is a bas relief of intense detail.

The bale is a perfect ring of drawn square wire, run through an opening in the design, becoming an extension as well as a means of suspension for the pendant.

The articulated round "snake" chain, 1/8" in diameter was incorporated to create a necklace from which the pendant hangs.  Terminals and a "sister hook" clasp were fabricated from the heavy gauge sheet and wire to fasten the ends.  The texture of this chain works well with the pendant's carved surface detailing.

Luis Mojica's ability to draw from ancestry--creating a relevant presence in any medium, is evident in the strength of this pendant.  It has no gender, just a very deep soul.
