About the Artist | (Born 1941, American) During the middle 1970's John Cox shifted (intentional pun) from drag racing to art making. Honored with five (5) solo exhibitions, eight (8) two artist shows, five (5) three artist shows and many group shows, Cox has enjoyed a successful career as an artist. He has been awarded a Best of Show, three (3) Gold medals for oil painting, a Silver medal for watercolor and a Silver medal for drawing. John has taught workshops at the Scottsdale Artist School, a summer workshop series at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix, AZ and numerous other organized and private workshops in Arizona, California and Wyoming. John Cox is a signature member of the OPA, Oil Painters of America. |
