About The Globular Whiteware Vessel Featuring Heartline Bear Fetish

Appliqued bear fetish design is in sharp contrast to the jar's smooth, seductive surface.

This jar was made by Jackie in concert with her husband Bennett Greg Histia.

About Jackie Shutiva Histia

(Acoma Pueblo, Born 1961) Taught to make pottery by Stella Shutiva, the artist's mother--

"Her grandmother, Jessie Garcia, was an imporant potter who helped advance Acoma pottery tradition. Her mother, Stella Shutiva, is well known for unique white corrugated pottery owls. Jackie continues making corrugated whiteware. Some of her designs, such as appliques of ears of corn, are reminiiscent of similar works with smooth surfaces by Wilfred Garcia and Sandra Shutiva, her sister." Gregory Schaaf Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Artist Biographies

Jackie sometimes collaborated with Jackie's husband, Bennett Grey Histia.
