About the Artist | (Acoma Pueblo, Born 1961) Taught to make pottery by Stella Shutiva, the artist's mother-- "Her grandmother, Jessie Garcia, was an imporant potter who helped advance Acoma pottery tradition. Her mother, Stella Shutiva, is well known for unique white corrugated pottery owls. Jackie continues making corrugated whiteware. Some of her designs, such as appliques of ears of corn, are reminiiscent of similar works with smooth surfaces by Wilfred Garcia and Sandra Shutiva, her sister."
