- There are no loose threads or missing beads. The velvet back panel is only missing a small rectangle of its surface texture. There is a small hole, in the left side edging, slightly visible from the front.

- About The Beaded Short-Handled Panel Bag
Created by either a member of the Yakima or Nez Perce tribes, this bag has a fully beaded front of pansies on a turquoise blue field.
Brain tanned, smoked deerskin was used for construction of the front panel, edging and handles. A red silk blend velvet forms the back panel. It is quilted to the turquoise trade cloth lining with red thread. The same turquoise fabric simply covers but is not stitched to the inside of the hide front. Basic assembly was done with a needle and thread, by hand.
Beadwork was accomplished using a variety of glass seed beads: opaque turquoise, cornflower and cobalt blue, opaque bright yellow and light green, clear emerald and faceted emerald, clear faceted crystal and the same beads with mauve painted cores.
The flowers are more naturally depicted than earlier examples of this art form. The colors are fanciful, rendered in mauve and bright yellow, banded in cobalt blue.
