About the Artist | (1926-2014) In 1990 after a successful career as a Wichita advertising executive, Wilbur audited a painting class at Wichita State University. This second career yielded over 600 paintings, many in watercolor. His chosen expression paired realism with a level of sentimentalism. Elsea grew to average twelve exhibitions per year. Elsea's claim to fame was his successful design of a mascot for Wichita State University--the WuShock--a gruff-faced shock of wheat, complete with arms and legs. |
