The foundation materials for this clutch consist of two layers of brain tanned and smoked deer or elk hide assembled using a heavy gauge corded thread. This same material was used to secure the beadwork to the exterior layer of hide and to attach the fabric-based brass zipper. Ornamentation consists of glass seed beads in six hues and three sizes.
Against a full on background of intense orange-red beads is a display of nesting chevrons fanning outward from a base of chicory blue to edges and tips defined by a step gradient band beginning with black against the blue, then terra cotta into dark amber finishing with a clear crystaline row. A downward pointing step triangle floats above the center of the primary design and is echoed by a border of downward inward pointing step triangles along the curved edge. Tehse all have black center bases grading to terra cotta, dark amber and finish with a clear crystal.
