Ingot silver, 970 sterling, black onyx and black silk velvet were used to created this handsome pendant neckware.
Like its limited edition design #634 sisters, this cruciform "necklace" was created entirely by hand. Initailed with a YY stamp, by the shop silversmith who made it, indicates a special skill merited status. Antonio Pineda recognized the, as yet unidentified, maker as an artist in his or her own right.
All of the silver is fabricated from hand mill rolled sheet and drawn wire. The centerpiece quatrefoil arms are file carved from focal point taper to "star" finials. The precise bezels and half ring cut onyx inlays are all exquisitely and expertly executed by a highly skilled artist of whom Antonio Pineda was proud.
Round terminals of silver, shaped and filed to represent germinating seeds, finish the ends of a silken black velvet "cord". This "cord" is actually a tube sewn from bias cut fabric. The silver terminals prevent removal of the pendant and provide counterweight when tied at the back of the neck.
