(Born 1959, Navajo)  Sally Black is a legendary award-winning basketmaker. Often she chooses to incorporate pictorial designs depicting human figures, deer, dogs, eagles, horses and turtles.

Black was taught to fashion baskets by her mother, Mary Holiday Black.  Subsequently Sally Black has shared her techniques with a range of Navajo students.

This artists has been described over the equivalent of an entire page of Gregory Schaaf's publication American Indian Baskets I  1,500 Artist Biographies.  Fourteen of this creator's baskets are illustrated in color in this unique publication.
