"A very long time ago there was a certain plant that grew in the shallow water of the bayous.  It grew in the places where the Choctaw went to bathe or swim. . . .

About Karen Clarkson
(Born circa 1965, Choctaw)  Winner of numerous awards for her artworks dating from 2005, Clarkson works in a variety of media--oil paints, watercolor, graphite, hide paintings

Native America Art magazine repeatedly cites her as an artist to know right now between 2018 and 2022.  She has exhibited her work in Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma and has participated in the Santa Fe Indian market since 2007.   Saltypie, the children's book Clarkson illustrated was awarded four (4) different awards.

Mert Kenyon's Pottery of the Southwest sells Clarkson's work in Santa Fe, New Mexico located on Canyon Road.
