Description

The latest Native American Art magazine cites Rosie Yellowhair as having participated in the Heard Museum Guild's Indian Fair & Market for more than 20 years.

About the Artist (Born 1950, Navajo)  Niece of Leo Begay and granddaughter of Hosteen Beginni, Rosie Yellowhair has created story-telling sand paintings for over forty years.

Yellowhair collects and grinds her own sand, applying it with adhesive to a surface, later sealing the granules in place.  Reportedly each composition takes anywhere from 3 months to 2 years to complete.

Since 2013 Yellowhair has received awards at the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair.  Since 2017 she has been a part of the Santa Fe Indian Market, winning First Place as well as Best of Division for her sandpaintings during each of the years.
