About Amado Peña

Born in 1943, Peña is both Mestizo Mexican and Pascua Yaqui Indian (a tribe in Arizona). Amado Peña completed studies in art and art education at Texas A & M University in 1964 (BA) and in 1971 (MA).

His paintings have been exhibited at the National Collection of Fine Arts at the Smithsonian in Washington. D.C. He has had in excess of thirty solo exhibitions in private galleries.

A resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Peña is cited in Who's Who in American Art as well as in the Biographical Directory of Native American Painters by Patrick Lester.
