About the Artist Many claim to have been influenced by Charles Loloma, the ground breaking Hopi jeweler, but Eveli Sabatie can count herself as one of a very small number who actually worked with the artist for many years, as an apprentice. As a result of her association with Loloma, her jewelry is illustrated on pages 187 - 196 of Marty Struever's hand-bound book to accompany an exhibition "Loloma Beauty is his Name" held at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe in 2005. Originally from Morocco, Ms. Sabatie first studied jewelry making with Loloma as early as 1968. She continued working under his direction until 1972 when she moved to Santa Fe, where she fashioned jewelry, having had shows at galleries such as the Fenn Gallery there and the Hand and the Spirit Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.
