(Born 1957) An artist with duo-heritage (Hopi and Navajo), David Dawangyumptewa attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Haskell Institute in Kansas and Northern Arizona University.  He is a member of the Water Clan and is geographically aligned with Kykotsmovi in northeastern Arizona.

His name Dawangyumptewa is the Hopi term given to the motion of the sun, as it appears on the eastern horizon, each morning.
