About Fred Beaver

(1911-1980, Creek/ Seminole) Fred Beaver "Eka La Nee" (Brown Head) was a painter and a muralist, who graduated from Eufaula High School and attended Bacone College.

Under the Five Civilized Tribes Agency, he served as a clerk and interpreter.  Beaver was honored with the Waite Phillips Outstanding Indian Artist Trophy.  In 1979 he won the Wolf Robe Hunt award at the Philbrook Art Center in Tulsa during the 34th Annual American Indian Artists Exhibition.

He was best known for his portrayals of Creek and Seminole life.  This artist was especially diligent about researching details and authentic costumes.
