Alfred Geniole was born in Nancy, Paris and died in Bicetre in 1861.  He was a painter of genre and portraits, having studied under Antoine Jean Gros.  Geniole debuted at the Salon in Paris in 1839. 

His art in included in the collection of Le Musee de Mulhouse, and he is cited in Benezit’s Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs et Graveurs.
