About The Basket Weaver
King's painting is based on a photograph taken by Putnam + Valentine dated 1910, which will accompany the painting. See last photograph below. Photograph was titled Indian Basket Weaver and Child (Arizona).
(1951-2019) Navajo Dineh. Strongly influenced by the work of Jimmy Abeita, King won Best of Show at the Heard Museum in 2002. Three years later he won Best of Category at Indian Market in Santa Fe and at the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial.
He chose to depict realistic depictions of traditional Indian life, genre scenes.
