14K yellow gold, as mill rolled sheet, drawn wire and casting medium, were utilized with natural red Mediterranean coral and full spectrum opal, to create this beautiful pendant.
Case and bail assembly was accomplished by solder fabrication of sheet and wire gold.
The centerpiece hummingbird was hand carved in wax, invested and then was burned out, leaving a detailed hollow impression. Molten gold was poured into this investment mold, allowed to cool and broken free for loving hand finishing.
The subject hovers in a vertical arc, the center of a radiant cut, coral inlay sky, a glimmer of rainbowl opal catches the light from a sliver of inlay with the creature's tail.
The chain, from which it hangs, is an Italian "snake chain".
