About the Artist

(1958-2022) This Hopi potter is the great grandson of the original Nampeyo and the grandson of Fannie Polacca Nampeyo.

Best known for his black and red on yellow jars, the migration pattern is one of his favorite designs.

Clinton was taught by his grandmother Fannie Polacca Nampeyo. Fannie was the youngest daughter of Nampeyo of Hano and was responsible for bring back the use of ancient symbols for decorating pottery.  A member of the Corn/ Kachina clan, Clinton has been carrying on the traditions of Nampeyo pottery since 1975:  using all natural materials for his paints, firing the pottery outdoors, as well as gathering all materials from the reservation.
