Sterling silver from ingot was used to fabricate the pendant hoops and button tops. Screw back attachment is a sterling silver manufactured finding. Three hand cut, 1/8" diameter cabochons were cut from natural #8 turquoise mine material for each earring.
These very elegant drop earrings can be converted to wires or posts conserving the beautiful button tops. Wires would be more correct for the period, as worn by Native people and is more in line with "restoration" than conversion. All materials, in this case, would be drawn wire and hand fabricated as was done 80 and more years ago.

Description | Sheet of sterling ingot was hand crank mill rolled for all fabrication involved, except for the screw back attachments soldered to the button tops. These ornamental fluted buttons were created with a two part hand cut die and a round plate was soldered to each for the commercial fitting. Hoop pendants were cut and decorated using a hand cut crescent stamp and smelted silver drops were soldered between and in line with the three smooth edged bezels on each pendant. The workmanship is controlled and the design beautifully balanced. |
