About the Artist | (Born 1951) The granddaughter of Santa Clara pottery Christina Naranjo, Sharon Naranjo Garcia committed to making pottery full time upon the death of her grandmother in 1980. Having been chosen "Best of Show" in July 2003 at the Eight Norther Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show, Garcia has also won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market. Her clay art is either polished red or blackware. Often these are enhanced with carved designs over most of the exterior surfaces. Other times her jars and bowls demonstrate restraint, presenting the simplicity of form and polishing, absent any added decoration. |
