Certainly a memory maker for anyone who recalls that very special restaurant House of Joy located in the mining and art-oriented town of Jerome in Arizona.
Artist applied black ink to white paper. Studio lighting produces a grey appearing paper, when paper is truly white.
- About Dick Phillips
(1933-2010) A native of Breckenridge, Texas and a graduate of Texas A & M (1955), he studied with Milford Zornes, the California watercolorist (1973) and Robert E. Wood (1974, 1977-1978).
Phillips was a member of the National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor West and the Arizona Watercolor Society.
Mr. Phillips had 39 solo exhibitions and had exhibited in over 100 juried shows across the United States. He conducted art workshops through the United States, England and Mexico. From 2001 forward, he taught at the prestigious Scottsdale Artists School.
Phillips was cited in Who's Who in American Art for many years.
