- About The Sterling Articulated Aztec Water Pattern Earrings
Ingot sterling sheet, wire and "buttons" of smelted silver were incorporated in the fabrication of these substantial ear ornaments.
The primary technique utilized is repousse done in reverse, the sheet silver is embossed from back to face in reverse utilizing a number of tools with varied tips that are gently taped, pushing the areas to be raised into a firm but yielding field of wax. This material is then worked face up with fine point and small chisel tips to further define those details not raised.
Screwbacks can be replaced with silver posts at no additional cost, if needed.

| About the Artist | (1896-1985) "Margot van Voorhies Carr, an established San Francisco artist, became immersed in the Taxco jewelry tradition during the 1930s as a designer for her husband’s taller, Taller de Las Delicias. As the wife of Antonio Castillo, Margot used her artistic abilities to influence the designs for the firm. In 1948, she left Taller de Las Delicias, and founded her own workshop, naming it Margot de Taxco. There she developed her unique designs taking inspiration from Japanese art as well as the Art Deco period. Man of her Mexican silversmiths became famous: Miguel Arias, Geronimo Fuentes, Hilario Lopez, Jaime Quiroz, Miguel Melendez and Melecio Rodgiguez. Margot is appreciated primarily for her signature enamel-on-silver work on jewelry including necklaces, brooches, bracelets and earrings. | Description | These finished sculpted pieces of the design are then soldered to heavy sheet sheet backings for stability and extra strength. Special rivets allowing movement are finished with smelted silver "buttons" that echo the smaller silver drops in the ear piece above. The entire piece is a marvel of beauty and precision. |
