Sterling Horny Toad Pin/ Pendant set with Turquoise

Lee Charley, Jr.

About The Sterling Horny Toad Pin/ Pendant set with Turquoise

Lee Charley is known for his creatures and this horny road is one of his very best.  This particular rendering is exception and has a natural Morenci mine turquoise cabochon of singular quality and size.

A 1/16" thick sheet of mill-rolled silver was cut to shape and chased to form the dome of the body and mild curvatures of head, limbs and tail.  Eyes and head definitions are deeply impressed with a few adroit chisel marks and overall texture was created with precise use of just one stamp.

Centered on the creature's back is a large, pear-shaped deep blue turquoise stone laced with a dark red to black matrix with flecks of silvery pyrite.  Surrounding its smooth bezel is a border of beaded wire with an outlying frame of round wire scallops and tiny silver drops.
