We can be sure Helen Shackelford was a keen observer of Southwestern landscapes with a sense of humor about some of its residents.

About the Artist (1928-2007)  Helen Metzger Shackelford was known for her Southwestern landscapes featuring huge cloud-filled skies.

Shackelford attended Northwestern University in 1946, the Art Institute of Chicago in 1947 and the University of Arizona in 1948.

She was active in museum and performing arts organizations as well as university associations.  She illustrated a book in 1972 titled All Hell Needs is Water.
