About the Artist | (Born 1947, Sandia/ San Juan pueblos American Indian) This artist's Indian name is Soe-Khuwa-Pin which translates to Fog Mountain. Robert is the first son of Geronima Cruz Montoya (Po Tsunu) and Juan A Montoya. A resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Montoya earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of New Mexico and his Master of Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma. An artist and an architect, he won Best of Show at the Indian Market in Santa Fe in 1973 as well as first prize in 1977, 1978 and 1989. He was awarded the Patrick Swazo Hinds Award in 1986. |
