About the Artist | (Born 1969, Zimbabwe) Having studied under Joram Mariga, one of the earliest stone sculptors from Zimbabwe, Fungai originally met Mariga through Fungai's wife, Maude. Between 1990 and 1995 Fungai learned all aspects of rock carving. In 1995 he applied for and received a residency at Chapungu. Mwarowa enjoys the challenge of working with the hardest stones including Lepidolite and Leopard Rock.
