About the Artist | (1952-2008) Born in the Rusape District of Zimbabwe, his father Fabian cared stones as well. Inspired by the work of Joram Mariga, Manuhwa joined the National Gallery's Workshop School in 1970. Since 1980 Damian Manuhwa devoted himself to making stone sculptures on a full time basis. His choice of subjects was either animal based or human. In 1987 he visited the United States, as one of Zimbabwe's leading stone sculptors. |
