Danger !  Art for serious color lovers only !

About the Artist (Born 1945)  A graduate of Otis Art Institute (Los Angeles) in 1968, Daniel Cytron worked briefly as a draftsman for the architect Richard Neutra.

Beginning in 1967 until Francis' death Cytron worked with Sam Francis, first as a studio assistant.  After gaining a coating technology diploma, he worked with Sam developing paint, ink and miscellaneous coatings for Sam Francis projects. Cytron subsequently set up the Litho Shop producing its first prints at his home studio.  Cytron has pursued his own art for decades, continuing his residency in Southern California.

Cytron's utter devotion to fully saturated color, only achievable with pigment-rich paints and inks, at one time prompted him to make his own.

He is best known for colorful fluid abstractions, preceded by a thorough investigation of applying contrasting colors of chart tape to surfaces resulting in geometric statements.

Cytron's museum exhibitions include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.  Solo exhibitions of his work were held at the David Findlay Galleries in New York as well as the Molly Barnes Gallery in Los Angeles. Cytron's most recent show took place January - February 2017 at West Los Angeles College.  This was a retrospective of the artist's large scale paintings and drawings.

In the early 1970's Cytron participated in the University of Southern California's vanguard program known as "Art Semester", conducting classes for the students in his studio located in Venice, California.
