Sterling silver earwires and curved tubing form the hoop earrings from which the squash blossoms are suspended. The blossoms are made of ingot silver--mill rolled into sheet from which the two-part bead tops and delicate tapered petals were hand crafted.
Here is a wearable twist on the earliest ingot silver earrings worn by Indeigenous peoples of the Southwest. This pair of circa 1940's hoops is fabricated of sterling silver tubing to which peg hinged wires have been secured. The wires "close" when the "free" end is tucked into the open end of the hoop tubing. A pair of finely crafted ingot silver squahs blossoms was worn on these hoops by their previous owner. Though sometimes a variety of large holed beads and tabs found themselves tanging from these earrings, these blossoms were her favorites!
We present you with her basic "starter kit". The possibilities are endless ! . . .
