This is a handsome drawing of a landmark building in the former mining town of Jerome, Arizona.

The Old Corbus Place - Jerome is a strong pastel formerly in the collection of Valley National Bank.

Hillside is included in an exhibition opening March 8, 2014 at the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona.  It easily fits the show's theme Architecture in Art in the American West.

 
About William Chapin

William Chapin currently resides in Phoenix. Arizona having left decades ago to put down roots in Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Chapin earned his BFA in painting and drawing from Arizona State University in 1974.

For several years his paintings were marketed through the Artisimo Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona and the Desert Art Source in Palm Desert and in La Jolla, California. Now Mr. Chapin enjoys the challenges of creating commissioned paintings. the latest being an extremely vertical southwestern landscape titled Mystic Canyon.
