About the Artist

Graciela Rodo Boulanger was born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1935. Her mother, a concert pianist, taught her to play the piano. She studied piano while attending the School of Fine Arts in La Paz and later in Santiago. Chile.

At the age of 25. she decided to devote herself to painting, making art her vocation and music her recreation.In 1961 she studied with renowned engraver Johnny Friedlander in the Atelier Friedlaender in Paris, France. A year later, she married a Frenchman. Although she has lived in France for decades, her style is still strongly influenced by her native Bolivia.

Boulanger works with a variety of mediums. including oils, watercolors, pastels, lithography, etching, sculpture and tapestry. Artwork by Graciela Rodo Boulanger has been featured in over 150 exhibitions on five continents and her renditions of children have also appeared on stamps issued by Bolivia, UNICEF and the World Federation of the United Nations stamps.

This artist's work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in La Paz, Bolivia; at the Modern Art Center in Zurich, Switzerland; at the UN International Peace Medal Museum of Modern Art of Latin America. Washington D.C.; and the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.

She has recently had major one-woman exhibitions in New York City, La Paz, Aspen, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta and Washington.
