About The Returning to Camp with Provisions

Two Bulls covered every aspect of this cold day, witnessed by the victorious hunter approaching a cluster of teepees, each issuing smoke.

The majestic grey to pinkish clouds form a backdrop to the horses grazing.

A downed dead tree represents a kind of surrender to the elements accompanying a truly harsh winter outdoors.

About Edward Two Bulls

(1938-2011) Edward Two Bulls was born on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota. He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Mission School and the Oglala Community School.

Two Bulls had been a rancher, art teacher and the acting director of the Lakota Village Youth Home. A self-taught sculptor and painter, he began to concentrate on his art after an accident left him unable to walk.

Edward Two Bulls' work has been exhibited at the Colorado State Fair, the Wyoming State Fair and the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  He was commissioned to pair four murals by the Santee Sioux Tribe.  In 1985 Edward received the "Art of the Year Award" for the state of South Dakota by the Cowboy and Western Heritage Hall of Fame.  That same year he also received the Engdahl Award by Sister Kenny Institute International Art Show for Disabled Artists.  He also demonstrated for a number of years at the Indian Arts Museum in Colter Bay, Wyoming in the Grand Teton National Park.
