About The Coral Needlepoint Cuff
This elegant little cuff is almost like Cinderella's glass slipper.  Beautifully crafted and hand set with 71 carefully-cut natural strawberry red coral cabochons, this sweet Zuni bracelet will only fit a wrist 5 1/2" or smaller. There are no marks indicating maker or even sterling, but we do know the tribe of the maker's origin and that the bracelet is sterling silver and set with coral solidly from end to end of its 3/4" band width. The overall effect is like a ribbon of hand-made red lace. Coral is becoming a rare commodity found mostly in vintage pieces and in stashes collected by jewelers working 40 to 65 years ago.  Their families have inherited the treasures using the material sparingly.  This particular bracelet is an unusual offering for the luxury of its coral and the special petite wrist required to wear it. Cinderella, where are you  ? ! . . .
About Zuni Pueblo
A Native American tribe, one of the Pueblo peoples, most of whom live in the Pueblo of Zuni on the Zuni River, a tributary of the Little Colorado River, in western New Mexico. Zuni is approximately 35 miles south of Gallup, New Mexico, with a population of about 12,000. Traditionally "Zuni" also references their language. The Zunis are known for their functional pottery used for food and storage, as well as for ceremonial application. They also created kachina dolls. Fetish carvings are a specialty with which this tribe is associated. Miniaturized carvings of fetishes are often a feature of their jewelry, along with labor-intensive inlay work.
