Duo Coral Cuffs

Cecil & Connie Hattie Johnson

About The Duo Coral Cuffs

This pair of phenomenal bracelets are the exquisite work of Zuni artists Cecil and Connie Hattie Johnson. During the 1970's when Native American jewelry was being pushed in the direction of "fine Euro Anglo styled jewelry" with the use of gold and diamonds, this couple held onto the more traditional materials and methods.  Their contribution to the trend resulted in the contemporary streamlining and refinement of earlier Zuni styles. Thus like the long grasses growing at the edge of a river, when seasonal rains came they bent with the temporary torrent, took their nourishment from the river while their roots remained intact.

These cuffs are part of their elegant legacy to Zuni personal adornment as we've come to think of it! Both bracelets are identical except for the ends.  One has grooved terminals spanning the width.  One has plain terminals.  They are the same size.
