Extensive international travel has affected her imagery. Her mixed media collage utilizes hand-made papers, metallic leaf and earth pigments.
Visually her work suggests Japanese woodblock prints.
Having earned her BFA from Sam Houston State University, Daryl lived and taught art at an overseas school in Tokyo in the 1970's. An apprenticeship with master printmaker Hodaka Yoshida enabled her to function well in the realm of carving and printing from wood blocks.
