What is a jumped auction bid? (SavvyCollector bidding)

Jumped bids are a technique for increasing your bid enough to throw other bidders off balance.

Today my initial bid was $1,600. The next bid “jumped” to $5,500, more than 3 times $1,600. Normal bid increments for this auction at this level are $100.

Be prepared to go at least 2 bids beyond your “jumped bid”, as at least one interested bidder may gather their equilibrium enough to top your jumped bid by the minimum increment.
