Slip-Cast versus Hand-Coiled Pottery

Put your hand inside a pot to feel for the lumps or just an imperfectly smooth surface quality.  Interior irregularities will assure you that your pottery item is hand coiled.

Slip-cast pottery references liquid slurry poured into a mold, an entirely different process from hand coiling a vessel.

A SavvyCollector pot collecting customer called to make sure we were conscious of the difference.

My response was “all day” !!

Our clients count on us knowing the difference.  To date we have chosen not to sell slip cast pottery and will likely continue with that position.

We also avoid offering treated turquoise with respect to the jewelry presented.

Our goal is to offer superior material at advantageous prices, serving both our consignors and our buyers.
