A political activist, a woman committed to higher education, a painter, a quilter and nobody’s pushover, Diane O’Leary made her mark in the art world and beyond.
Born in 1935, Diane faced challenges of every sort, including health challenges causing her to switch from painting to quilt making. Sheer determination drove her to switch her art-making medium, only until a medication was developed to steady her hands so she could return to painting. Diane’s subtle gradations in color shifts in her paintings were as unique as her both elegant and satirical compositions. The emotive content of her work was entirely transparent. Her personal experiences often were reflected in subject matter found in these expressions.
Examples of Diane’s work will be added to the website in the months ahead, as Mr. Albion Fenderson was one of Diane’s most long standing supporters.
