People with arms holding large and small purchases walked by for the whole duration of the market on Saturday, opening day. Pottery, paintings, kachinas and more! It was fun to see so many men proudly wearing their Indian art jewelry, most of it newly executed, reflecting recent purchases!
A friend volunteering to person the First Aid booth gave me the opportunity to witness this activity. I also visited with D.Y. Begay, whose weaving had won an award. Prize winners proudly displayed ribbons and a degree of professionalism that outstrips most art and craft-oriented fairs conducted by any and all cultures.
