Major USA museums have chosen to add more than half of the artworks sold to date. Private collectors have acquired several highly significant examples. Oscar Howe’s magnificent painting Double Woman (Winyan Nupa) sold for a record six figure price. Sales supported both male and female artists as well as a multitude of mediums: paintings, sculpture, jewelry, basketry, weavings. Artists from at least 18 different tribes have enjoyed sales during this brief groundbreaking exhibition of art by American Indian artists (mid 20th century – 2023). Tuesday January 23 marks the last day when it can be seen at 432 Park Avenue NYC.
