Mike Prepsky is a Phoenix-based clay artist who has worked with earth’s materials for more than 40 years. Raised in Indiana, Mike received his undergraduate and masters degree from Indiana State University, where he flourished under the mentorship of Dick Hay.
In 1980 Mike received a Masters of Fine Arts in Ceramics at Arizona State University and continued teaching with the Phoenix Union district, South Mountain High School. In 1985 the Phoenix Union High School District started the Arts “Magnet” program, an educational program designed to sustain critical arts education in the visual and performing arts. As Chair and teacher at South Mountain High School, Mike played a key role in the development of the “Magnet” program and its subsequent success. Since his retirement in 2007, Mike has continued to evolve his practice into a large thematic body of inspired work.
